Your GP or our Medical Adviser will:
1
Take a medical history with focus on any symptoms and all of your potential risk factors
2
Perform a physical examination including recording weight and a reliable blood pressure reading
3
Record an ECG or EKG (electrocardiogram) if clinically indicated
4
Arrange necessary blood testing for a cholesterol profile, Lp(a) if indicated and a diabetes screen if not recently done
5
Ensure your Personal Risk-Profile Score is completed
6
Provide you with a referral for a CT Coronary Artery Calcium(CAC) Scan (or occasionally supplemental plaque tests, if indicated, from the Risk-Profile Score)
7
Discuss and consider immediate referral to a preventative cardiologist if you are considered at high risk because of symptoms, or other concerns based on your Personal Risk-Profile Score (such as a very strong family history, very high cholesterol numbers or poorly controlled high blood pressure).
8
Complete your final report and recommendations. If the results are reassuring, nothing more may be required. If there are concerns, based on your plaque testing results or risk factors, you may be advised to consider a consultation with a preventative cardiologist, in which case a referral can be made.
The 7 action steps for a healthy heart from The 5CH Lifestyle book:
Step 1
Decide if YOU should have a CAC with a personal risk profile score – Use link here and consider taking The 5CH Heart Check
Step 2
Get your CAC results and do something about them (if abnormal we strongly recommend a consultation with a preventative cardiologist)
Step 3
Start the 5CH diet
Step 4
Accept that you will be having a “miserable” month
Step 5
Start exercising today
Step 6
Just a little meditation
Step 7
Make good sleep and balance priorities
These steps are detailed in Ch.7 of “The 5CHs: How to Lower Cholesterol without Medication, Reduce the Risk of Heart Attack and Achieve long term wellness”.
